Rice Krispies Hearts

Rice Krispies Hearts

Rice Krispies Hearts
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups mini-marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper or wax paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. When melted, add in marshmallows and mix until all are melted. Remove from heat.
  3. Add in red food coloring until you reach the desired red/pink color.
  4. Stir in Rice Krispies cereal and combine until well coated with marshmallow mixture.
  5. Using a buttered spatula, press rice krispies mixture into the 9x13 pan. Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
  6. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts of rice krispies treats. Enjoy!

Sidenote:  You can do the same thing, adding green, and cutting out shamrocks for St. Patty's, etc.  You can even use fruity pebbles or cocoa krispies for this recipe. (The fruity pebbles is a lot sweeter though, so be forewarned.)
